Stuart Flechner

Stuart M. Flechner is a Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, and Director of Clinical Research in the Section of Renal Transplantation. Dr. Flechner has specialized in the development of novel immunosuppressive protocols, and has taken part in a great number of clinical trials including cyclosporine, mycophenolate mofetil and MPA-sodium, basiliximab, FTY-720, belatacept, and sirolimus. He has been particularly interested in CNI minimization and avoidance regimens based on sirolimus, and has led a number of international trials. He has also been interested in evaluating gene expression platforms for monitoring the development of rejection and chronic allograft nephropathy, and has used oligonucleotide arrays to categorize clinical transplant outcomes.
