Flavio Vincenti

Flavio Vincenti, Nephrologist, Professor of medicine and surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, USA. He is co-leader of the sub-group dedicated to the study of "solid organ transplantation" of the Immune Tolerance Network and he is the author of more than 150 publications. Prof. Vincenti, who has specialized in the development of monoclonal antibodies in transplantation, took part in a great number of clinical trials such as those performed on OKT3, tacrolimus or Efazilumab. In 1978, Flavio Vincenti was one of the authors of an article in the New England Journal of Medicine about the role of blood transfusions in improving kidney transplants. He also wrote a series of articles on the complications of transplants and has been a leading investigator and author on the use of anti interleukin 2 receptor monoclonal antibodies. In addition, he is a proponent of minimizing immunosuppressive drugs after transplants.
