Many thanks for visiting our site. We hope you find it useful, interesting and enjoyable.
One of the more memorable names in UK recruitment advertising/recruitment communications/employment marketing/whatever our industry is calling itself this week, we are team who worked together for five years at a US-owned agency, which we started up from scratch.
We then decided that, while emotional ownership is good, legal ownership is better so - on Friday 13th (!) January 2003 - we took the leap and started from scratch again, as an independent agency ready to take on the world.
Now, in the fifth year of the Giraffe experience, we have continued, and hopefully improved on, all the good things from our past - above all a level of service, creativity and results that have produced a client retention record that is unmatched, anywhere – while ensuring we evolve to meet the challenges, and opportunities, of recruitment in a Web 2.0 world.
Anyway, enough of all that (particularly that Web 2.0 stuff). What you really want to know is the answer to the most important question of all - the burning issue in the minds of everyone who meets us or reads our site:
Why are we called “Giraffe”?
It's not because we are “sticking our necks out” or have our “heads in the clouds” or because we’re “looking down at the competition”, while the fact that it rhymes with "having a laugh" is just a coincidence, we promise.
The fact is, Giraffes are non-aggressive, non-hierarchical, sociable animals, who spend a lot of time thinking – they’re just nice creatures all round. We know this because we looked it up.
After we thought “that’s a nice name”, when a long legged former colleague complained that her new shoes made her “look like a baby Giraffe learning to walk”.
“I like the web site, it's very well done, particularly liked the piccies of you all! I do like the name giraffe too, particularly the explanation as to why the company was called so, whoever thought of that hit all the right notes.” Tessa Casbon — Sharp Electronics
